Mont Saint-Michel in the Tide and Dark

MONT SAINT-MICHEL, NORMANDY, FRANCE

Low water exposes the island as a hard, isolated mass against the bay. Inside the abbey, stone ribs and narrow light turn the interior into a severe chamber. Outside again, the salt flats stretch into black-and-white bands, empty and unsettled. By night, the mount rises under stars, its lit walls holding the last visible weight of the day. The sequence moves from reflection to enclosure, then out into a landscape that seems to erase itself and return. Mont Saint-Michel stays constant, but the atmosphere changes from blue calm to nocturnal command. The journey is measured by tide, shadow, and silence.
