Great Egret at the Waterline

A great egret stands in shallow water with prey held in its bill. The bird is framed tight against a muddy bank and still water, with its reflection broken by small ripples. Pale plumage reads cleanly against the darker background, giving the scene a clear field-record quality. The posture is alert but contained, all attention fixed on the catch. It is a direct view of feeding behavior, observed at close range in a quiet wetland margin.
